FEASTS is now a member of the Horizon4Proteins collaboration.

One of the key challenges of the next decades is ensuring sufficient supply of accessible and safe proteins in the face of growing world population, scarcity of natural resources and climate unpredictability. Projects collaborating on H4P work towards fostering more sustainable, resilient and equitable food systems with a focus on diversified sources of proteins. We work together on key aspects such as determining factors of consumer acceptance, safety and regulatory challenges, food applications, sustainability and ethical considerations.
The H4P collaboration was established in 2021 between four EU-funded projects working on alternative proteins: NextGenProteins, ProFuture, Smart Protein and SUSINCHAIN. The projects worked together on a number of key dissemination and policy activities. As a rolling collaboration, new EU-funded projects focusing on diversified sources of proteins have joined the collaboration as the original four projects have reached their end dates. As of July 2024, the Horizon4Protein collaboration consists of GIANT LEAPS, LIKE-A-PRO, VALPRO Path, INNOAQUA and FEASTS.
Horizon4Proteins draws upon the collective expertise and insights of diverse stakeholders to maximize the opportunities and address the challenges connected with alternative proteins. The platform provides a forum for the exchange of ideas, fostering innovations, developing guidelines, co-creating potential solutions and advancing the sustainability and resilience of our food systems.
The involvement of FEASTS in this initiative will contribute to the continuity of the Horizon4Protein platform and produce research to support the EU’s transition towards a more sustainable and resilient food system.
